Free stuff/tutorial time guys! Today I am going to share an easy way to make 4 image edits, all high quality.
As most tumblr editors know, if you add more than one image to a post, the images become blurry. This is super frustrating for editors whose blood, sweat, and tears go into making the perfect sharpened images.
The only solution I have found (and I have searched for many) is to just edit the pictures altogether with a white border equivalent to the one tumblr automatically creates.
I have created a simple 4 image PSD (like and reblog to download here) and a 2 image psd (like and reblog to download here) where all you need to do is drop your images in, along with your PSD of choice, and export out the entire image. I’ll show you how quick and easy it is to use this PSD to make an image like this in under 5 minutes:
You don’t even need to sharpen. I already have that covered through the smart objects.
It’s pretty straightforward, but for newer PS users and those who haven’t been using smart objects (you’ve been missing out, guys!) I’ll explain step by step.
Open it up in PS, and just like each image says, double click the paper icon in the bottom right corner of each layer
Drop your image in, resize it to fit the screen. Hit ENTER to place the layer.
Exit the window and hit save.
Repeat for all 4 images/layers
Next, select the blank layer titled DROP PSD HERE, and drag the PSD of your choice onto the image.
And voila! The images are already sharpened through the smart objects (double click the smart sharpen layer to adjust the sharpness, or click the little eye icon to toggle the smart sharpen on or off.
Save out the image (I like to do Save for Web with PNG-24)
Here, again, is the final product, all done in less than 3 minutes!
